Curious how OSIS works?

Introducing OSIS

OSIS (OnlineSTS.net Information System) is a unique database, established in 2011, that records the reports submitted by master mariners of the performance of participating vessels, STS Service Providers and STS superintendents involved in STS operations. This initiative fills the need of Tanker Operators to manage the risk in STS operators and ensure that all involved parties are providing top quality services regarding safety.

OSIS hosts data from many shipping companies worldwide comprising a total fleet of more than 1,000 oil tankers. More than 800 STS operations are added to OSIS every year. The mission of OSIS is to statistically analyse masters’ reports, sanitize commercial information and share between the supporting organizations safety related information. It focusses only in supporting the continuous improvement cycle of all involved parties, while clearly deviates form a blame culture.

STS Experts include all mariners with experience in supervising STS operations whether described as: STS superintendents, Mooring Masters or POACs (Persons in Overall Advisory Control) and can include Pilots with significant experience in STS mooring/unmooring when they supervise approaching and casting-off procedures.

The experience and professionalism of STS Experts is of paramount importance in performing Ship to Transfer Ship operations safely and smoothly. Tanker operators, acknowledging the importance of their role, place an invitation to all STS Experts to register with, and use, OSIS to aid their professional and career development.
